Birthday Month!!

yep... i'm a June baby!! and this upcoming birthday is an especially tough one for me... it's true. this will be the last year i can ( honestly ) count myself in my early thirties... then... it's mid thirties!!! ha

so... i've decided how to make it hurt a little bit less... i'm gonna throw one serious birthday party for myself!! and i've invited all my blogging friends to come over to my party! ;) how fun right!! and each one them is bringing presents too!! but, not for me... :( for YOU!! cause... a birthday party, just isn't a party without celebrating with gifts!

Every Post this month ( and there will be o' sooo many ) will be a Birthday Celebration Give-A-Way!! yep.. i like to party like a rock star... and so do my friends!! ;) So, get ready for some crazy good gifts coming your way!!

I'm so excited to join in!! I love birthdays.So you probably want a little info about me... I'm Tammy - wife to Chris and mom to Megan (my 2-year-old inspiration). I've been sewing since I was in elementary school (I still remember the felt clothes I made for Barbie!) and took up quilting while in college. weekend projects!!

well kids... it's memorial weekend! i know many of you will be traveling or vacationing this holiday away... but sadly the boy toy has to work all weekend :( So... i will have plenty of time to visit lost loved ones and finish some sewing projects! i've been working on my Swiss Army Quilt again and i think i'm almost ready to start sewing the blocks together! ;)

and... i have been playing with the idea of sporadically opening my etsy shop again with little handmade treasures ( limited qualities only! ) haha... i don't want to get into custom orders again... they really made my hobby a job! LOL

i needed a new travel calender and picked one up last night at the targ'et... and low and behold... their Liberty of London is now on clearance, so i picked up a cutie travel pad too. but my pad was soooo much more clever then my ugly calender... which led me to a little patchwork cover for her :) now they look smashing!!

i thought that since summer is coming soon (ehem, rain rain go away!),
i´ll be incorporating my must haves for summer in every post. ;)
they´re not of special order, just what comes to mind.
this time, high waisted skirts.
i found these super cheap zara skirts (freakishly similar to the double pocket skirts from american apparel, which i also have in three colors) for 9,95 euro.
they´re super easy to wear. a basic top and some accessories and then you´re good to go!
so perfect! especially when i really don´t care what to wear on a hot hot day.

Summer Bling Quilt!!

beautiful pink diamonds... does it get any girlier??? i think not! haha... i had been itchin to try a { half square triangle } quilt for sometime and last week... i finally got my chance! i played with a couple different designs... but after some thought and comments from friends on Flickr... i went with an off centered diamond ;) Katie has an amazing Flickr group that has severe HST eye candy and after i scanned their photo pool... this one gave me a lot of inspiration!

since my clever oldest was holding up my quilt top for me... he thought i'd be super funny to take a quick photo of me... not looking to pleased! haha... what a stinkerbutt!!

now back to my { me + you } quilt with my dear friend Joan!!

my fabulous boy toy took me shopping in my favorite spot this past weekend... Hawthorne ( for all my Portland local readers )!!! this area of town is known for their hippy spin on all things modern. I feel completely at home there and it also happens to house one of our most chic fabric stores... Cool Cottons. I lOVE this store... it always has these fantastic little treasures that have been long gone from our beloved online retailers since they still hand write their receipts! I picked up a few gems there and thought i'd share with my readers... some others that are still available at regular boutiques prices! Just call and give them your order by phone and they'll promptly ship it out to you!

And here's what i've been working on... Polka DOTS!! I lOVE dot's... but, with 3 boys in my home... i have to be creative to fill my house space with them!! LOL... so my compromise, was to trick them into believing they don't look like dot's if they are on a wall!!... and yeah... they bought it!!

I love my fabric in hoops/ dots surrounding my sewing space in all my fav designers, some with embroidery, and some with applique! It's like a rainbow of color dancing around my sewing space!!

i can't wait to find more hoops for my wall ( i've cleared out my local distributors! )haha... but these are terribly addicting!!
